The Aristocats Plot
For cat lovers, The Aristocats is an adorable and charming Disney movie which is both heart-warming and enjoyable. The story takes place in Paris, France in 1910. A cat named Duchess lives with her three kittens in a mansion with the aristocratic retired opera singer Madame Adelaide Bonfamille and her British butler Edgar. When Edgar overhears that Madame will leave her entire fortune to the cats, he becomes upset and decides to get rid of Duchess and her kittens.
He abandons them in the countryside where they meet the singing alley cat Thomas O’Malley who is immediately taken with Duchess. Thomas promises to help the Aristocats return to their home in Paris and has to save Marie twice along the way. Along the way, Thomas is saved from drowning by two travelling geese from Britain named Amelia and Abigail Gabble. When they return to Paris, Thomas introduces the Aristocats to Scat Cat and his other alley cat friends who perform the scat song Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat. Then, when the cats return to their mansion, Edgar catches them and plans to ship them to Timbuktu. Friends of the Aristocats, Roquefort the mouse and Frou-Frou the horse discover Edgar’s evil plan and try to stop him. As Thomas comes to the rescue, Roquefort goes to get Scat Cat and the other alley cats who also come to the rescue. They lock Edgar in the trunk and he is sent off to Timbuktu. Madame adopts Thomas, who then joins their family, and also starts a charity housing Paris’ stray cats, including Scat Cat and his gang.

He is a tough and courageous cat, saving the kitten Marie’s life twice without hesitation. He is also a romantic, who wastes no time in courting Duchess.
Duchess – The female protagonist is a refined and aristocratic cat who is the mother of three kittens. She has a pure white coat with bluish-green eyes which Thomas O’Malley says look like sapphires. She is kind, loving, polite and gentle. She is a true lady. Her voice is provided by the legendary Eva Gabor.
Toulouse – The oldest of Duchess’ three kittens, is a fuzzy orange cat who wants to be tough and strong like an alley cat. He idolizes Thomas O’Malley, who calls him ‘little tiger’ because of his desire to be fierce. He is insightful and realizes early on the Edgar the butler was the one who betrayed them.
Marie – The middle of the three kitten and the only female is a true princess and a total diva who can be a bit bossy to her siblings. Marie is a romantic and is often starry-eyed and sighing when Thomas tries to romance Duchess. She is somewhat clumsy, falling off both a truck and a bridge and has to be saved by Thomas. She has a pure white coat like her mother and has blue eyes.
Berlioz – The youngest of the three kittens, is a playful kitten who always teases his older sister Marie. He is grey in color and is a talented pianist. He has a lot of spunk and energy.
Scat Cat – Thomas’ friend and the leader of a group of music-loving jazz musicians. He plays the trumpet and is fat grey cat who wears a small hat and a bow tie. He is heroic and comes to the aid of Thomas, Duchess and the kittens.
Shun Gon – He is a brown Siamese cat who is a member of Scat Cat’s gang. He plays the piano, as well as drums that are made out of pots.
